Morrisroe denied parole for second time
Citing a lack of remorse and no acknowledgement of responsibility, the Pennsylvania Parole Board has again denied parole for Paul Morrisroe.
Morrisroe, 49, formerly of Marshburg, was convicted of homicide by vehicle for the June 2015 hit-and-run death of Dakota Heinaman in Cyclone.
In February 2017, he was sentenced to 7 ½ to 15 years of incarceration for charges including homicide by vehicle while DUI.
The minimum date for his sentence was July 25, 2024. He has been denied parole twice, and will be eligible for consideration again in March 2026.
The board’s decision noted other reasons for the denial were that assessments indicated his risk to the community, his “minimization/denial of the nature and circumstances of the offense committed,” negative recommendations made by trial Judge John Pavlock and District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer, and the nature of his crime.
He remains incarcerated at State Correctional Institution at Albion.
Morrisroe was tried in January 2017 in Venango County after a jury couldn’t be seated in McKean.
Court records said that on June 2, 2015, on Route 646 in Cyclone, a motorcycle operated by Heinaman had slowed to turn in to his driveway when it was struck from behind by a full-size pick-up truck, which police allege Morrisroe was driving. The truck left the scene.
Heinaman was thrown from the motorcycle and did not survive the crash.
Morrisroe was arrested in August 2015.
