Ducks drift in clear creek
A common merganser and her 10 quickly growing ducklings glide over the clear water in the East Branch of the Tunungwant Creek. The group was spotted midday Thursday from the East Washington Street bridge. Mergansers are considered an indicator species by scientists and conservationists because they prefer clear, high-quality freshwater streams and biodiverse river ecosystems.
