Kai Trump has college rallying around her, prayers pouring in after creepy incident at Mar-a-Lago
(TNS) — A creepy situation that unfolded at Mar-a-Lago last month involving President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai, is making its way back into the news cycle this week and for good reason.
Anthony Thomas Reyes was arrested just after midnight in early June after police said he climbed the wall at Mar-a-Lago. That alone would be alarming, but police said the 23-year-old Texas man had wild plans. He was reportedly taken into custody by the Secret Service, and “openly admitted to climbing over the wall that surround Mar-a-Lago to gain entry so that he may ‘spread the Gospel to (Trump) and marry Kai,’” police said.
The Kai referenced was, of course, 18-year-old Kai Trump.
“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms,” the Secret Service told The Independent. “U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene.”
Also of note, per Secret Service, none of the individuals it protects were actually at Mar-a-Lago at the time that Reyes reportedly climbed the wall.
Still, the accusations are disturbing, and they haven’t been forgotten. Like her grandfather, Kai loves golf, and she has committed to play at the University of Miami.
And this week the Hurricanes’ student newspaper published an op-ed that shined a light back on the incident and called for the school to support Kai and let her be a normal student.
“The UM community must do its part to let Kai Trump be a student, allowing her to attend class and experience a normal college life,” the op-ed read. “The disturbing incident reflects an unfortunate trend in which the families of presidents become targets of public scrutiny, stalking or worse.
“It’s important to remember that we are all human,” it continued. “People like Kai, and other political relatives deserve the same respect, privacy and security as everyone else. The latest stalking incident is a stark reminder that the university must also be as cooperative as possible with Trump’s security team in order to ensure her safety on campus.”
That has apparently led to renewed support and prayers for Kai as it pertains to the situation.
Reyes was reportedly charged with misdemeanor trespassing and has pleaded not guilty. The Independent reported that his bond was set at $50,000. The site said a judge in Palm Beach ordered Reyes not to have contact with the president, Kai Trump or any of the family members.
Shockingly, per The Independent, court documents show that Reyes also attempted to trespass at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Eve.
