DUKE CENTER — The hills of Otto Township echoed with a roar of engines Saturday as the Coast Riders held their second annual fundraising event to benefit trails throughout the area. The event featured barrel races, a mud bounty hole timed contest, and a dash for cash. There were different classes of machines and events for people of all ages. Children ages 6 to 15 were in a mud hole that was 1 foot deep while the adults were challenged with a mud bog that was 4 feet deep and 200 feet long.
The event started with a guided tour of the township’s beautiful trails that run from New York into Pennsylvania. The trails featured steep inclines, rocky roads, paved roads and beautiful scenes that showed the whole valley. There were basket raffles, chance auctions, a baked food sale and a chicken barbecue staged by the fire department.
The money raised from the event will go toward maintenance and repair of ATV trails not only in Otto Township, but wherever there are recommendations in the area.
