Summer intern strengthens Penn State Extension programs
SMETHPORT — Penn State Extension of McKean County welcomed Zebulin Raught as its summer agriculture intern.
A lifelong resident of McKean County, Raught grew up in Eldred and attended Otto-Eldred for elementary and high school.
“I was an active member in my high school FFA chapter, which exposed me to the many topics that agriculture encompasses.” Raught said. “From agriculture business to horticulture, animal science and agronomy, I have seen it all.” Currently, Raught is enrolled at Penn State for forest ecosystem management and is pursuing a minor in entomology.
Asked about his role with the extension, Raught said, “I am more than happy to answer and assist farmers and landowners with questions concerning woodland conservation, pollinator and pest management and invasives we see here in the county. My job is to facilitate our county’s agriculture while giving my insight using what I have learned in the field and classroom to assist our farmers with their questions and ideas. I am eager to begin serving my community in any way I can.”
Customers can reach Raught at the McKean County office at (814) 887-5613 or zsr5060@psu.edu.
