The McKean County Fair is unique in that it is the only county fair in the state of Pennsylvania that selects its queen candidates from the county’s high schools. This year’s candidates are Miss Bradford Madison Jordan, Miss Kane Mackenzie Ginkel, Miss Otto-Eldred Alexis Prince, Miss Port Allegany Alayna McKervey and Miss Smethport Mara Ours.
Miss Bradford, Madison Jordan, is the daughter of Christina and Lee Jordan. She wanted to become Miss Bradford to inspire younger generations and motivate individuals to take an active part in their community. She is active in a number of extracurricular activities including softball, jazz band and choir. She is the lieutenant governor of her Key Club division and the saxophone captain of the Bradford Owls Marching Band.
Miss Kane, Mackenzie Ginkel, is the daughter of Brittany and Donny Davis. Through her tenure as Miss Kane she hopes to show the younger generation that anything is possible when you believe in yourself. She is involved in both sideline and competitive cheerleading.
Miss Otto-Eldred, Alexis Prince, is the daughter of Amy and Jeremy Prince. She wanted to become Miss Otto-Eldred because she has always looked up to those who held the title before her. She hopes to inspire people to become the best version of themselves. She is involved in many extracurriculars including volleyball, basketball, show choir, National Honor Society, Peer Helpers and student council, where she serves as an officer. She is a dedicated FFA member and is currently raising two steers and two swine for show and sale.
Miss Port Allegany, Alayna McKervey, is the daughter of Lashella Gleason and Lige McKervey. As a little girl she always looked forward to the fair and admired the queens she saw there. She is honored to wear the crown and represent Port Allegany. She volunteers at Port Allegany Head Start and is also a dedicated member of the softball team.
Miss Smethport Mara Ours.
Miss Smethport, Mara Ours, is a dedicated member of the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) and Rotary International Youth. She also participates in choir and girl’s basketball. She is also a committed member of United Methodist Church where she serves as a youth representative. She intends to pursue a degree in food science.
Ours was unable to make the meeting at the Model T Inn, as she was attending the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference.
The next place the public will get to mix and mingle with the ladies is during the Princess Tea. Two teas will be held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 13 at the McKean County Fairgrounds 4H Building in Smethport.
The new fair queen will be chosen during the 2025 McKean County Fair scheduled for August 10 to 16 in Smethport.
