Glen Hazel Road detour starts Monday
CLEARFIELD – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad will close Glen Hazel Road (Route 1001) in Jones Township, Elk County, beginning Monday to complete the replacement of a railroad crossing. This project will improve the ride quality and increase safety for motorists.
A detour around the project site will route traffic onto Clarion Street (Route 1006), Route 219, Center Street in Johnsonburg Borough (Route 1009) and Glen Avenue (Route 1004) for a 13-mile detour. PennDOT anticipates completion of the project within a week.
PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in the work zone, remain alert for railroad operators and equipment, approach railroad crossings carefully and “Always expect a train.”
