BAHS Alumni Assoc. announces scholarship winners
Bradford Area High School Alumni Association awarded its annual $1,000 scholarships to four 2025 BAHS graduates, Felicity Cramer, Alise Newman, Alyssa Worthington and Owen Copeland.
The four students, along with their guests, were honored by the association with a luncheon at the Bradford Club on June 12.
Cramer will enroll at Slippery Rock University in the fall, majoring in music therapy with the goal of pursuing a career as a therapist working with children with special needs. She was a Distinguished Honor Roll student throughout her high school years and a member of National Honor Society, served as Key Club president and as co-leader of Be Kind To Your Mind.
Felicity Cramer
Her musical activities included Marching Owls, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, District Band, Region Band and District Choir. In addition, she was part of the theater program for four years and served as an assistant dance teacher.
She said she feels her career path will allow her to not only be a performer but to help others by doing so.
Alise Newman
Newman plans to major in business administration, minor in finance or accounting, at Mansfield University, where she has been accepted into the university’s Eileen Jones Honors College. She was a Distinguished Honor Roll student throughout her high school years and a Gifted Education student as well, carrying College in the Classroom courses. In addition, Newman was a Cooperative Education participant, working three years at Save-A-Lot grocery store. During that time, she worked as a cashier, became the front-end supervisor and, for the past year, has been the produce manager. This spring, the Pennsylvania Cooperative Education Association named her as one of the six outstanding co-op students in the state to represent the Western Region.
Her civic participation has included church activities, honoring veterans as part of a group decorating their graves with flags, and fundraising for several local charities.
Alyssa Worthington
Worthington plans to attend Liberty University, majoring in elementary education to prepare for a teaching career. She has been a Distinguished Honor Roll student throughout her high school years, carried Advanced Placement and College in the Classroom courses, was named to the National Technical Honor Society, played for the Owls’ volleyball team and is on her way to obtaining her Child Development Certification. In addition, she is the local chapter president and state vice-president of Family Career and Community Leaders of America.
Worthington has been employed throughout high school via the Cooperative Education program as an aide and assistant teacher at two local childcare agencies in addition to working as a waitress. She said her goal is to be a part of what she feels the world needs more of today — teachers to make a positive impact on the lives of children.
Owen Copeland
Copeland will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring in both communication and international/global studies to prepare for a career in international relations within trade or human resources. He has been a Distinguished Honor Roll student carrying honors courses while also gaining competency certification in carpentry and machine tool technology.
Copeland plans to take advantage of the RIT co-op and internship programs in order to gain hands-on experience in his field. During his high school years he also played on a travel hockey team and worked at Togi Family Restaurant while also being honored with a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Civics Exam Achievement Award.
