Jerry W. Dowell, 80, of Summit Road passed away Wednesday (June 18, 2025) at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital.

Born June 16, 1945, in Bushkill, he was a son of the late Link and Pearl (Woodard) Dowell.

On Sept. 18, 1965, in Bradford, he married Linda L. (Johnson) Dowell, who survives.

Jerry had been employed by the City of Bradford for more than 40 years. He was responsible for city streets and did the plowing and street sweeping during the summer.

Jerry enjoyed hunting, camping, campfires and being outdoors. He was a mechanic for his family and friends. He was an awesome husband, father and Papa. He enjoyed raising dogs, especially Boomer, his favorite.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda, of 59 years, are two daughters, Brenda (David) Brien of Sugar Grove and Beth (Ron) Bhe of Derrick City; one son, Jerry Dowell of Bradford; five grandchildren, Chad Dowell, Tyler Brien, Courtney Brien, Brent Vecellio and Blake Vecellio; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Dowell of Hazelhurst and Paul Dowell of Lafayette; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marion Dallenbach; and three brothers, Link Dowell Jr., Bruce Dowell and Boyd Dowell.

At Jerry’s request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
