Majors All-Star Softball: DuBois shuts out Bradford, 11-0, to advance
DuBois used a five-run fourth inning and a four-run sixth to sew up an 11-0 shutout Tuesday during Little League Majors Softball All-Star action.
The weather was not ideal, requiring regular ball changes due to the persistent drizzle. Both teams played persistently, but ultimately DuBois came out with the win.
With DuBois up 2-0 as the game rolled into the top of the fourth, Anna Cooper tripled and had two RBIs, a walk sent in a runner with bases loaded and Haley Brubaker smacked a single to center that was caught but was enough to send in another run.
In the sixth, Aubrey Wright tripled, sending in three runs. Another run scored on a pop fly by Brubaker, who was the second out. A runner heading home for DuBois didn’t tag third and was tagged out on her return to base for the third out of the inning.
The bottom of the sixth was three up and three down, sending everyone home as the rain started again.
“We have two really good pitchers, and we’ve got a good hitting team,” DuBois coach Mike Gray said. “We have a great group of girls and a great group of parents. We are excited to see what happens.”
DuBois will play the winner of the Potter/McKean-Smethport/Mount Jewett/Kane game on June 19.
