Charles Cook
KANE — Charles W. Cook, 80, of Mount Jewett passed away peacefully at his residence Monday (June 16, 2025).
Born May 1, 1945, in Cordell, Okla., he was the son of the late Francis L. and Betty (Ashton) Cook. On Sept. 16, 1967, he married Carole Jean Kaye of Glassport.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, he was employed as a Pennsylvania State Police officer for 25 years, retiring as sergeant from the Mount Jewett barracks in 1992. Post-retirement, he worked for the McKean County Sheriff’s Office and as the Security Officer at the McKean County Courthouse.
A passionate outdoorsman and accomplished trapper, his love of nature was surpassed only by his love for his family. He was a member of the Mount Jewett Sportsmen’s Club, National Trappers Association, Pennsylvania Trappers Association and Mount Jewett American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Christopher J. (Valerie) Cook of Russell and Carl William Cook of Mount Jewett; and three granddaughters, Rhiannon, Brigit and Fiona Cook.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Mount Jewett Library or Mount Jewett Sportsmen’s Club.
