Other Voices: Drumbeat of hyperbole
In the June 10 Other Voices, a writer condemns President Trump for “each grievance, each lie, and each attack on our nation’s norms.” He goes on to write “our institutions have been weakened, facts distorted, civility abandoned, and divisions deepened.”
The writer, Peter Colomaio, does not cite a single instance of all these damning and serious accusations, which is a prime example of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” These are reckless and harmful accusations which mislead and cause much of the social and political division that he speaks of in his comments.
President Trump and this administration have done more to restore law and order, fix the border problem, stabilize the economy, bring some semblance of accountability to government agencies and quell or pacify unrest around the world than the other 14 presidents I have lived through. The thrust of Mr. Colomaio’s comments typify the drumbeat of misinformation coming from the news media daily.
If this type of demagoguery and hyperbole prevails it will destroy the America I grew up in.
