Events planned at Sinnemahoning
AUSTIN — The campground movie on Saturday at Sinnemahoning State Park will be Charlie and the Curious Otters, shown from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the campground amphitheater.
The PBS film by Charlie Hamilton James offers an in-depth look at several species of otters, including river otters, that are found right here at Sinnemahoning State Park.
From 10 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday will be the Skies of Sinnemahoning June Night Sky Tour. Join park staff and local astronomy enthusiasts to learn about the celestial objects and constellations visible overhead. It is recommended that you bring a chair or blanket to sit on. No flashlights unless they have a red-light filter, please. Meet at the wildlife viewing area.
At 9 a.m. on June 28 will be a breeding bird walk. Join a park naturalist in documenting breeding birds in the park. Along the way we will be collecting data for the Pennsylvania Bird Atlas and participants will learn how they can contribute data to this five year participatory science project.
From 4 to 6 p.m. will be an introduction to archery. This program will cover the basics of archery, including bow types, shooting form, and safety. Open to participants ages 10 and older, this program requires pre-registration. To register: https://eventsreg.dcnr.pa.gov/
On June 29, at 9 and 10:30 a.m., and at 12:30 p.m. will be pontoon tours of the Stevenson Reservoir. Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. Group size is limited. To reserve a seat, please pre-register. Registration is not required but is strongly recommended.
