Arlene Greeley
PORT ALLEGANY — Arlene H. Greeley, 96, of Austin died Sunday (June 15, 2025) at UPMC Cole, Coudersport.
Born Dec. 6, 1928, in Mosgrove, she was a daughter of Vurnett and Anne Adaline Hoak Harrier.
On Feb. 28, 1948, at Austin Methodist Church she married Barton M. Greeley, who predeceased her Jan. 18, 2024. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in 2023.
A 1946 graduate of Union High School, Rimersburg, she studied at Clarion State Teachers College. She was employed by Sylvania in Emporium for over 20 years. Arlene was a member of the Potter County Historical Society and a former member of Austin Methodist Church. An avid genealogist, she researched at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
Surviving are five children, Shirley (Gary) Meacham of Clara, Barton (Cynthia) Greeley Jr. of Coudersport, Eugene (Rose) Greeley of Austin, Cathy Owens of Coudersport and John (Monique Bates) Greeley of Coudersport; five grandchildren, Lisa (Andrew) Sottolano, Gary Meacham Jr., Eric Meacham, David (Aleisha) Greeley and Amanda (Erich) Petsch; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Nina Snyder of Port Allegany; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son, George Charles Greeley; a grandson, Kevin A. Greeley; and a sister, Jean Hall.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Friday (June 20, 2025) at Olney-Foust Funeral Homes & Crematory, Switzer Chapel, 77 Willow St., Port Allegany, where funeral services for Arlene and Barton will follow. The Rev. Josh Dean will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin.
