Bradford man jailed for alleged trespass, watching female resident
A Bradford man was sent to jail early Tuesday for allegedly trespassing on a Keating Avenue property and watching a female resident through the windows.
Owen Wesmiller, 21, of 143 Seaward Ave., is charged with criminal trespass – break into structure, a second-degree felony; two counts each of invasion of privacy and defiant trespass and one count each of loitering and prowling at night, and disorderly conduct, all third-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 4:11 p.m. Monday, a homeowner was on the phone with police to report a trespasser he had caught on his property that day. While they were speaking, the alleged trespasser returned. The policeman disconnected and immediately went to the residence, as he knew other officers had removed the man from the property before and ordered him not to return. Wesmiller was located minutes later walking on Constitution Avenue, away from the residence in question.
Police spoke to the female resident, who said that two nights earlier she thought she had heard the back door lock and doorknob turn. She thought she saw someone outside her bathroom window, too, but was too scared to investigate, the complaint noted.
Police interviewed Wesmiller, who said he had been on the property three different times on Monday. While he was there, he opened the rear door. He said the female heard him at the door and went to investigate, finding him there, the complaint stated.
When asked about prior incidents, Wesmiller said on June 7 he was peeking through the windows to see if he could see the female “while not clothed,” the complaint stated.
He was arraigned before on-call District Judge David Engman and sent to McKean County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
