Oswayo Valley graduates 25 students
SHINGLEHOUSE — Oswayo Valley High School held its 118th commencement Friday in the high school gymnasium, recognizing 25 seniors with its class of 2025.
The presentation of medals was made by Superintendent Glenn Smith Jr. The welcome address was presented by Eva West, recipient of the Third Honors Award. She is the daughter of Scott and Diane West of Shinglehouse and will attend Pennsylvania State University and major in animal science.
The commencement address was given by Charlotte Austin-Keech, class valedictorian, daughter of Dave Keech and Tara Austin of Shinglehouse. Austin-Keech will attend the University of Pittsburgh and major in pre-physician assistant studies.
Also giving an address was class salutatorian Rylee Thompson, daughter of Ronn and Kristen Thompson of Shinglehouse. Thompson will attend Pennsylvania Western University at Clarion and major in environmental science.
The presentation of the class was given by Principal Erich Zaun, and diplomas were given to the students by Smith, Board of Education Treasurer Kimberley Voorhees and Board of Education member Ashley Carpenter.
Closing remarks were given by Thompson, who was also class president.
Music was provided by Natalie Seely.
Awards and scholarships were announced by Zaun, as more than $260,000 in scholarships sponsored by local organizations were made available to Oswayo Valley graduates.
