OLEAN, N.Y. – Southern Tier Catholic School announced that longtime educator Mary Lou Plesac has been awarded the Golden Apple Award by the Diocese of Buffalo.

The honor recognizes teachers who go above and beyond in their dedication to Catholic education, inspiring students through faith, excellence in instruction and a deep commitment to their school communities.

The Golden Apple Award celebrates educators who bring the Catholic faith to life in the classroom, demonstrate a passion for professional growth and create learning environments where students feel supported both academically and spiritually. Award recipients are also recognized for their collaboration with faculty, families and the greater school community.

Plesac has served at Southern Tier Catholic School and Archbishop Walsh Academy for 35 years. Over the course of her career, she has taught multiple grade levels and held the role of director of Spiritual Life, where she planned and led school Masses, taught religion classes and helped cultivate a strong Catholic identity across the school. Her involvement with the music ministry for St. John’s Parish, located on the same campus as the school, further deepens the connection between parish and school life.
