Popular car brand recalls over 1M vehicles
(TNS) — A massive well-known automaker has recalled over a million vehicles in the United States.
This recall stems from a software error that causes an issue with the vehicle’s rearview camera.
According to a notice published to the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, Ford is recording 44 models total including some of its Bronco, Edge, Escape, Navigator, and Corsair vehicles.
The notice explains that the aforementioned “software error may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.”
“A frozen or missing rearview camera image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of crash,” the notice states.
Anyone who owns these impacted Ford vehicles can have their software updated by a dealer or via an over-the-air update, completely free of charge.
Letters notifying owners of this issue and the associated risks are expected to be mailed out on June 16. Another letter will be sent as soon as the software fix is available, “anticipated for third quarter 2025,” the release reads.
