Free programs at Sizerville this weekend
EMPORIUM — Sizerville State Park will host several free environmental education programs this weekend.
Rainbow Rendezvous is set for 3 p.m. Saturday at the park’s Environmental Learning Center. Did you know that Earth is the only planet in the solar system that has rainbows? Stop by the center for a short talk on rainbows, then go on a rainbow scavenger hunt through the park. Feel free to bring binoculars, a water bottle and comfortable shoes.
At 8 p.m. Saturday, the campground amphitheater will host “CCC History at Sizerville.” The program will relate the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp that was located in the state park from 1933 to 1935. Learn what crews did for Camp S-85 and how their legacy is still alive today. A movie will follow a short talk. Feel free to bring snacks and a blanket.
To register for a program, go to the DCNR Calendar of Events website, search Sizerville State Park, find the program listed, and click on the Register button right under the program date, time and location.
