Bradford’s Frair finishes 12th in 800 at State Meet
Bradford’s Brayden Frair closed out a tremendous career at the PA State Meet with fine performances in the 800 meters and the 1600 meters.
“Brayden finished 12th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.54. He was just 1.21 seconds out of a 8th place State metal. He ran the 1600 meters in 4:23.45 for 19th place. He had the finest season ever for a Bradford distance runner. He now has the records in five distance events,” Bradford boys coach Tom Tessena said. “He holds the 800M, 1600M, 1 Mile, 3200M, and the 2000 meter steeplechase. He was close to the 400M as well. He scored 704 in his 4 years. That is 11th All time. He finishes this season with 282 points, which is 13th for a single season. He has been the MVP in Track for the last three years and has won the James Manners Award for the district 9 AAA in 2023. He also was named The Most Outstanding Track Performer at the McDowell Invitational this year. He has been a great leader for our team. He will be missed. Brayden is going to continue his Track career at Lock Haven University and we know he will do well there.”
Junior Fabian Sherk competed in the triple jump. He finished 25th with a jump of 42’0”. He fouled by 1 inch on a 44’ jump. Last week at the District 9 AAA meet he had jumped 45’.5”.
“We look for him to be back at this meet next year and put up a big number,” Tessena said. “He won 4 medals at Districts this year. ”
Junior Andrew Giordano placed 25th in the javelin with a throw of 149’5”. He has won the District 9 AAA Javelin each of the last new seasons.
“This year he threw 172’10” and he will be back stronger then ever we hope,” Tessena said.
Bradford’s fourth competitor was junior Enzo Aiello who had won Districts with a 14’3” jump.
“Enzo had some trouble with high winds and cold temperatures and went out at 13’0”,” Tessena explained. “He was over it but knocked the bar. He will come back and challenge for a high metal next year.”
“I would like to thank all team members and coaches for a great year and another District 9 AAA Title. We will be honoring all of them at our Annual Track & Field Banquet on Wednesday at the University of Pittsburgh at 6 pm,” Coach Tessena stated. “All team members are reminded to turn their Track Equipment on Wednesday or Thursday after school in the Track Equipment room.”
