Hidden Valley Wet; Season Opener rescheduled Again
CLEARFIELD – Once again, Hidden Valley Speedway officials have been forced to cancel the season opener due to rain. Heavy rains throughout the week have saturated the grounds and the track and infield, making it impossible to get them ready for action, prompting the cancellation.
Track owner Dan Savino wanted to make the announcement as early as possible today to prevent teams from traveling for the annual Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial race that was on the card for the Super Late Models tonight. McGarvey was a Super Late Model driver who died unexpectedly in a work related accident in 2009. McGarvey was a multi-time feature winner and point champion at speedways throughout Central Pa. This race honors the man each year.
That race will be rescheduled for Friday night, July 4th it will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start. Watch the website and our Facebook for more details on that.
Next Friday, we will try again to get the season kicked off with a regular show for the Semi Lates, Small Block Modifieds, Econo Lates, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders. Also on the card next week is the 600 Micros, the Thunder Cars and at intermission the Junior Four Cylinders.
Mark June 13th on your calendar as the annual Karen Condon Memorial will be held that night for the Thunder Cars, paying $700 to win. Karen was a huge race fan who never missed a race, and she was an employee of Hidden Valley Speedway when she died unexpectedly in 2021. Her family hosts a memorial race in her honor each year.
The pit gates will open each week at 5 p.m., spectator gates will open at 6 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 7 and racing at 7:30. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and our website at www.hiddenvalleyspeedway.net for more details.
