Big 30 announces first group of players for 2025 game

The first group of PA players has been announced for the 2025 Big 30 Charities Classic. This year, players are being announced on a truncated schedule, which means 10 PA and 10 NY players will be announced each week. Check Saturday’s Edition of The Bradford Era for this week’s 10 NY players.

The first 10 players announced for the PA roster include Michael Gerg and Rocco Delhunty of Ridgway; Kane Scharba, Cameron Severance, and Levi Wilson of Kane; Kelvin Burgess of Port Allegany; Owen Rounsville of Smethport; Seth Jensen of Eisenhower; Maxx Newton of Cameron County and Ethan Ott of Elk County Catholic.

Read more about each below: Michael Gerg Ridgway Area High School Height: 5’11’’ – Weight: 200 lbs. Offense: FB/HB – Defense: OLB Michael plans to attend Gannon University for Pre-Med and to, hopefully, become a Family Physician. He is a member of the National Honor Society, the French Honor Society, Vice-President, Class President, Rotary Student of the Month, and the Principal’s High Honors. He wants to be able to play in the Big 30 game because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for him and he would get to walk out on the field one last time for this game, which will be the last time he plays football. Michael’s best memory while playing football was beating St. Marys his senior year and scoring touchdowns. His hobbies are reading, studying, lifting, and working. Michael’s favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his favorite player is Mike Alstott.

Kane Scharba Kane Area High School Height: 6’ – Weight: 215 lbs.

Offense: RB – Defense MLB Kane plans to attend Robert Morris University to major in Cyber Security. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Kane wants to play in the Big 30 game because it is his last chance to play the sport he loves. His best memory while playing football was tackling people. His hobbies are sports and working out. Kane’s favorite football team is the Los Angeles Chargers and his favorite player is Justin Herbert.

Cameron Severance Kane Area High School Height: 6’3” — Weight: 290 lbs. Offense: G – Defense: T Cameron plans to enter the workforce or attend Lincoln Electric Welding School. He lists his honors and awards as lettering in Football and Track a couple of times, and making the Honor Roll a handful of times. Cameron wants to play in the Big 30 game because it has been his goal since freshman year, plus he thinks it would be fun. His best memory while playing football was going undefeated in 8th grade with all his friends. Cameron’s hobbies are riding dirt bikes, snowmobiling, lifting, and hanging out with friends.

Kelvin Burgess Port Allegany High School Height: 5’10’’ – Weight: 160 lbs.

Offense: WR – Defense S Kelvin plans to attend Penn Tech to become a Heavy Equipment Operator. Among the awards he received in school were lettering twice in wrestling and three times in football.

Academically, he was nominated for the National Honor Society and inducted into the C&C National Honor Society. His desire to play in the Big 30 game comes from the opportunity to play with his friends one more time. Kelvin’s best football memory at Port Allegany was making it to the state finals. His hobbies include riding dirt bikes and hanging out with friends. His favorite football team is the Buffalo Bills and his favorite player is Tavon Austin.

Owen Rounsville Smethport High School Height: 5’8” — Weight: 165 lbs.

Offense: R/Slot – Defense: S Owen’s future plans are to join the workforce and train in a trade. He was a Scholar Athlete from 9th through 12th grade, won the Ed Faes Memorial Award in Varsity Baseball in May 2023, and received the Varsity Football MVP in 2024. Owen says he loves football and was so excited to be invited to participate in the Big 30 game. He is excited for the opportunity to be able to play with athletes from other schools at a higher level for a great cause. Owen’s best memories of football were hanging out with all the boys on the team wing nights and dinners. His hobbies are golf, hunting, and fishing. His favorite football team is the Buffalo Bills, and his favorite player is Josh Allen.

Seth Jensen Eisenhower High School Height: 6’ – Weight: 310 lbs. Offense: RT – Defense: DT Seth has been accepted at the University of Northern Ohio for High Performance Motorsports. His plan is to work with a NASCAR team. During high school, he won the Iron Man Award, the 800 lb. Club (lifting) Award, and the Coaches Award. He was also a three-year letterman. It has been a goal of his to be able to play one more game of football as part of the Big 30. His brother also played in the Big 30 game. Seth’s best memories while playing football were the snow practices before playoff games. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, skiing, and trap shooting. His favorite football team is Penn State and his favorite player is Olumuyiwa “du” Fashanu.

Rocco Delhunty Ridgway Area High School Height: 6’1’’ – Weight: 225 lbs.

Offense: FB/RB – Defense: LB/DF Rocco plans to attend Lock Haven University to major in Business Marketing. He lists his honors as Team MVP, D9 All-Star, TCW/CE All-Star, and Big 30 All-Star. He wants to play in the Big 30 game because all the men on his Dad’s side of the family participated in this game, and he wants to keep the legacy intact. Rocco says his best memory he had while playing football was playing Port Allegany in his senior year. His hobbies are art, snowboarding, and doing stuff with his brother. His favorite football team is the Buffalo Bills and his favorite player is Josh Allen.

Maxx Newton Cameron County High School Height: 6’0” – Weight: 255 lbs.

Offense: T – Defense: T Maxx plans on entering the workforce in the trades upon graduating from Cameron County High School. As a sophomore, he received the award for Most Improved Player in Football. His senior year he received the Tom Malizia 54 Award and District 9 Outstanding Defensive Interior Lineman Award. Ever since he played in the first ever Little Big 30 game, he says that it has been his dream to be part of the real Big 30 game. Maxx’s best memory while playing football was scoring a touchdown his senior year against Smethport. His hobbies include riding around in cars and hanging out with his friends. His favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite player is Jerome Bettis.

Ethan Ott Elk County Catholic High School Height: 5’9’’ – Weight: 209 lbs.

Offense: LG – Defense: DE Ethan is planning to attend the State Police Academy. During his high school years, he won the Bill Grapinski Memorial Award and was a four-year Letter Winner for ECC. It is important to him to play in the Big 30 game because, for him, it is full of prestigious players and it would be great to be a part of that atmosphere. Ethan’s best memories while playing football were all the bus rides home after wins. His hobbies include building trucks, hiking, hunting, and hanging out with friends. Ethan’s favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite player is George Pickens.

Levi Wilson Kane High School Height: 5’6’’ – Weight: 175 lbs.

Offense: RB – Defense: LB Levi’s plans after graduation are to go to school for Forest Tech. He is glad to be able to play in the Big 30 game. Levi is excited to be able to play one more football game before he hangs up his cleats. His best memory while playing football was the win against Bradford on senior recognition night. Levi’s hobbies include weightlifting, working, and spending time with his friends. His favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and his favorite player is Troy Polamalu.
