George Failey
PORT ALLEGANY — George Leo Failey, 96, of Port Allegany passed away Monday (May 19, 2025) at his home in the care of his loving caregivers.
He was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Binghamton, N.Y., a son of George Failey Sr. and Marion (Corliss) Failey.
He was a 1946 graduate of Waverly (N.Y.) High School. In 1952 he graduated from Notre Dame University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in foreign and domestic finance.
He was a Tech. 5 in the U.S. Army, serving from Sept 26, 1946, to Jan. 28, 1948, in Japan.
Mr. Failey was a president and CEO of North Penn Gas Co., retiring in 1998.
George had a love for traveling, entertaining guests, the great outdoors, his Irish heritage and Notre Dame football.
He is survived by brother James Failey of Waverly and his extended family, the Hogans, also from Waverly.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday (May 21, 2025) at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 203 Arnold Ave., where a Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow with the Rev. Joseph Dougherty, pastor, as celebrant. A funeral dinner will be held following Mass in the church hall. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Waverly.
Memorials may be made to St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church or to Potter County Hospice.
