A Bradford woman was arraigned Wednesday for allegedly having methamphetamine when she was taken to jail for a trespassing charge in April.
Amber Tucker, 40, who is listed as homeless, was charged with possession of contraband — controlled substance, a second-degree felony; and possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
According to the criminal complaint, on April 3, Tucker was arrested for being inside someone’s vacant house without permission. She was wearing two coats on a warm night, police noted. While she was in the holding cell at the police station, she kept saying she was cold and asking for her coats back. Police said no.
After arraignment, officers were transporting her to jail when she claimed again to be cold and asked for her coat. The officer offered to turn up the heat in the car, to which she said, “That is not the fricken point,” the complaint stated.
The officer gave the coats to the jail staff while dropping Tucker off. During a search of one coat, a corrections officer found a bag of suspected methamphetamine.
Tucker was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Rich Luther and remanded to jail in lieu of $10,000 monetary bail. She is scheduled for Central Court on May 22.
