Louis Colts Sr.
Louis J. Colts Sr., 66, passed away peacefully Thursday (May, 8, 2025) surrounded by his family at Bradford Manor following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 23, 1958, in Bradford, he was a cherished son of Rosie Marie Colts and Louis J.
Marquardt.
Lou enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 27, 1976, stationed at Fort Bragg.
He was a proud paratrooper who embraced the thrill of parachuting, which was a testament to his fearless nature and adventurous soul. Lou was honorably discharged Feb. 19, 1982.
Lou had a work ethic like no other. His career in the oil industry spanned many years. Beginning at Halliburton and most recently at Satterlee Resources, where he built lasting friendships and operated heavy equipment in the mountains he adored. Lou was a devoted family man who found joy in the simple moments shared with his loved ones. He was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a guiding presence in the life of his granddaughter Lydia, whom he helped raise. Whether attending family events or cheering on his grandchildren at sports games, Lou’s presence brought warmth and strength.
Lou was a lifetime member of Frances Sherman Auxiliary to Bradford VFW Post 212 and an active member of Bradford Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2432.
He had a deep love for the outdoors — hunting, kayaking and walking in the woods brought him peace. His legendary collection of camping gear was a reflection of his generous spirit and readiness to explore.
Lou is survived by five children, Angel (Brian) Johnston, Kim (Jim Ratcliff) Colts, Lisa Colts, Monica (Mike) Austin and Robert Frost; 12 grandchildren, Anna, Brittany, Brian II, Nicholas, Cedric, James II, Dakota, Maelynn, Eli, Lydia, Nathanyll and Louis III; nine great-grandchildren, Cory, Rilee, James III, Brian III, Azaliah, Zariah, Joey, Jesse and Violet; three brothers, Dicky (Rhonda) Colts, Billy Colts and Bobby Colts; two nieces, Melissa (Brad) Mason and Tabatha Colts; and three nephews, Jon Colts, Dicky Colts and Bobby Colts.
Lou was predeceased by his parents; a son, Louis Colts Jr.; and a brother, Timothy Colts.
“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.” Lou will be remembered for his adventurous heart, generous soul and unwavering love for his family. He was a patriot, a provider and a friend and his legacy will continue through all who knew and loved him.
