Gary Woodmansee
Gary E. Woodmansee, 82, of Bradford passed away Wednesday (May 7, 2025) at the Pavilion at BRMC.
Born Oct. 6, 1942, in Olean, N.Y., he was the son of the late Eugene P. and Emma B. (Krakat) Woodmansee-Kelly. He was a 1960 graduate of Bradford Area High School.
Gary enlisted in the U.S. Army on Sept. 22, 1960, and was stationed in Germany until his honorable discharge on Oct. 14, 1963.
On Nov. 28, 1964, in St. Bernard Church, he married Penny A. (Wilt) Woodmansee, who survives.
Gary worked at AirCo Speer after the service and then as a custodian for Bradford Area School District until he retired after 34 years as head custodian.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 749 F&AM, now Bradford Union Lodge 749 F&AM. He was a member of Coudersport Consistory and earned his 50-year pin. He was also a member of Bradford American Legion Post 108.
Gary enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He loved taking his beloved dog Molly for walks, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years, Penny, are three children, Gene (Connie Golthwait) Woodmansee, Pam (Jeff) Sambol and Amy (Michael) Robbins; eight grandchildren, Sydney (Jon) Fitzpatrick, Rachel (Tyler Madigan) Woodmansee, Luke Woodmansee, Lee (Dakota) Bray, Kevin (Jenna Bond) Sambol, Cody Harris, Colten (Ariel) Harris and Sophia Robbins; five great-grandchildren, Landon Fitzpatrick, Ava Fitzpatrick, Oaklyn Harris, Salem Sambol and Krew Bray; and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Russell Kelly.
Family will receive friends 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday (May 12, 2025) at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 E. Main St., where funeral services will immediately follow with the Rev. Max Simms, pastor of Hilltop Baptist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home with the U.S. Army and the Honor Guard of Bradford Legion Post 108.
At 12:45 p.m., Monday, members of Masonic Lodge 749 will conduct a Masonic service.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
