BHS Co-op Spotlights: Neely, Skaggs, Cary
KHLOE NEELY is a senior in the Health Occupations program.
She was drawn to the field of nursing because she enjoys hands-on work and has a passion for caring for others. After successfully earning her certified nursing assistant (CNA) credential in January, she began her co-op placement at Bradford Ecumenical Home, working as a CNA. Khloe chose to participate in the co-op program to gain real-world experience in healthcare. Her favorite part of the job is building meaningful relationships with both the residents she cares for and the team she works alongside. After graduation, Khloe plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford to major in nursing.
KEION SKAGGS is a senior in the Automotive Technology program. Since he was a child, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and become an auto mechanic. This year, Keion chose to participate in a co-op placement at Quick Way Auto Sales to gain hands-on experience, earn some extra money and enjoy time outside the traditional classroom setting. At Quick Way, he performs a variety of automotive tasks including brake repairs, tire service and general vehicle maintenance. Keion values the positive work environment, especially the mentorship he receives from his boss, Joe, who he said treats him like family. Keion is currently in the process of earning his state inspection license. After graduation, he plans to continue working at Quick Way Auto Sales and further develop his skills in the field.
JOE CARY is a senior in the Well Drilling program who chose to participate in co-op to gain more welding experience. For his co-op placement, Joe worked at Swanson’s Fabrication, where he learned valuable skills such as metal cutting, welding and drilling holes in pipes. He enjoyed the experience because of the supportive and kind team he worked with. Joe plans to continue working at Swanson’s throughout the summer until he goes to school in the fall.
He will attend Alfred State College to pursue CNC programming.
