“Coach Copenhaver agreed to give our top two players a chance to play doubles in order to save their energy for tomorrow. Gavin (my #2) was a bit sore from dual sporting with track, so I just held him out. We appreciate her honest interest in what was best for not only those singles players, but all the others who gained fair match experience,” St. Marys coach Tim Henry said. “All of my freshmen got to play, which helps set them up for success next year.
“This is what D9 tennis is all about. Coaches who care deeply about their players and what is best for them, and also want to see this amazingly challenging, but rewarding sport grow. Good luck to both her players and to Gavin and Blake tomorrow.”
