(TNS) — Former Central Michigan center and Thomas Jefferson star Dominic Serapiglia has received an invite to Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie minicamp, the school announced on Monday.
Serapiglia became a twotime All-MAC honoree over his two seasons with the Chippewas. Now 24, he hopes he can earn a roster spot with the Steelers off a two-day tryout. A former walk-on, Serapiglia was nominated for the Bulsworth Trophy, awarded to the best former walk-on in the country.
Over the last two seasons, he has started 24 games for Central Michigan, establishing himself as one of the stalwarts on the offensive line.
Serapiglia launched his playing career at Southeastern Louisiana before transferring up to Central Michigan. There, he began in 2022 and became an All-Southland Conference selection as the starting center. Serapiglia also played guard during his time in Hammond, Louisiana.
Initially entering college football in 2019, Serapiglia committed to Tulsa as a walkon before transferring to Southeastern Louisiana.
While at Thomas Jefferson, Serapiglia was a two-time allstate selection, helping lead a strong period of Thomas Jefferson football that culminated in three 4A WPIAL titles.
Serapiglia is another local player who will get a chance with the Steelers along with Seth Morgan and Hollis Mathis.
