BRMC, OGH invite community members to become volunteers
In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, are highlighting the meaningful contributions of their volunteers and encouraging more community members to join their volunteer teams.
In 2024, OGH was supported by 40 dedicated volunteers who donated approximately 1,600 hours of their time, while BRMC’s 41 volunteers contributed an impressive 4,005 hours.
Both hospitals offer a variety of volunteer opportunities that allow individuals to make a difference in the lives of patients, families and hospital staff. Positions are available in areas such as the emergency department, gift shop, nutrition, office support, Meals on Wheels and more.
Becoming a volunteer at either BRMC or OGH begins with a simple process. This includes completing an application, receiving appropriate training with the hospital’s volunteer coordinator, obtaining medical clearance and attending in-person onboarding with the department where you will volunteer.
Applications are available online or can be mailed or emailed to interested individuals. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to serve in any role involving patient interaction. In exchange for their service, volunteers will receive a meal voucher for use in the hospital café, typically after completing a threeor four-hour shift.
If you are looking to make a difference in your community, gain experience to kickstart your healthcare career, help others or stay active during retirement, volunteering at BRMC or OGH may be a great fit for you.
To volunteer at BRMC, contact Susan Conner, volunteer services coordinator, at (814) 362-8288 or email sconner@brmc.com. To volunteer at OGH, contact Erica Dreher, volunteer coordinator, at (716) 375-7377 or email edreher@ogh.org.
Whether offering a comforting presence to patients or providing support to busy departments, volunteers are an essential part of the BRMC and OGH communities. This National Volunteer Appreciation Week, both hospitals express their heartfelt gratitude to current volunteers and extend an open invitation to anyone looking to give back in a meaningful way.
