    Let DOGE do its work

Recently I read a guest commentary written by Judge John Cleland. The focus of his commentary revolved around the efforts of DOGE to reduce the huge budget problems our country faces.

He asked a number of questions that could not readily be answered until the actual decisions were made about what and how much was going to be cut. At this early stage the there is no way to satisfy his concerns.

I believe the efforts of DOGE are well-intentioned and absolutely necessary. We are spiraling out of control financially to the tune of approximately $1 trillion every 100 days. If those kinds of numbers do not alarm you I do not know what would.

The real question the good judge needs to ask himself is if we just merrily roll along what will happen when our credit is exhausted due to our inability to make our payments. For sure we will be unable to help anyone here in the United States let alone all over the world.

This is the situation we face, there is no point in attempting to “gild the lily,” as they say. We cannot continue along this path, period. There has to be significant changes in the way we fund our government. We are almost at the end of our rope.

Let the DOGE operation continue and allow it to uncover the waste, fraud and abuse that is rampant in our government. We can fix any of the problems if we work together to cure some of the most mind-blowing stupidity that is currently being paid for with taxpayer money.

    Bill Jones, Kane
