10U Blizzard qualify for Championship game with perfect weekend
The 10U Blizzard team went 2-0 over the weekend, securing a spot in the championship game.
In Game 1, Bradford earned a hard-fought 5-3 victory over previously undefeated West Seneca BU. Griffin Atteberry led the offense with a hat trick, while Emmett Speaker added two goals.
“Our defense played outstanding,” said Coach Doug Atteberry. “Parker Rose, Carter Geer, Lily Schine, and Liam Medina played their best game of the season, forcing West Seneca to stay wide and take tough-angle shots.”
Jack Rhoades also had a standout weekend, showing significant improvement on both ends of the ice. His hustle helped prevent multiple shots on goal. Emmett Callinan, Ezra Crozier, Cooper Morris, Yazhier Kervin, and Karli Frederico all logged significant minutes, providing strong support for the defensive unit. Goaltender Zedryx Kervin was stellar in net, making key saves throughout the game.
On Sunday, Bradford controlled its own destiny—win and advance to the finals, or face tiebreaker scenarios with a loss or tie. Atteberry delivered an unforgettable eight-goal performance, powering Bradford to a 9-6 victory over West Seneca BC. Speaker added a goal in the win. “We took some penalties this weekend, but they were from being aggressive,” said Coach Atteberry. “I was pleased to see us working to eliminate time and space. In the past, we’ve allowed players to skate by without challenging for the puck.”
With the win, Bradford clinched a spot in the championship game. Their opponent was decided in the following matchup between West Seneca Niagara and West Seneca Boston U. West Seneca Niagara needed a tie or a win to advance, but West Seneca Boston U pulled off a thrilling 6-5 victory to earn the final spot.
Bradford will now travel to West Seneca for the championship game at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9.
