Second-board wins by Sylvia Bysiek in the final rounds brought Bysiek CPA, PLLC (captained by Ed Bysiek) to a first-place finish as the Varsity Division of the Bradford Businessmen’s Chess League concluded after seven rounds.
Also on the Varsity’s second board were Rick Weinberg (playing for Hennard’s Construction) in second and Juliana Bysiek (playing for Togi’s Sub Station) in third.
A Slice of the 80s (captained by Ben Gross, with Don Anthony playing second board) captured second place after tiebreaks, and Hennard’s Construction (captained by Chris Przygoda, with Weinberg playing second board) claimed third place.
Tamara Koridze (captain of Prestige: Watch & Jewelry) was the Varsity Division first-board winner, with Gross coming in second and Przygoda taking third.
The JV Division will continue with rounds each Wednesday night until March 5. Following round 7, Dr. Wojcik (captained by Aiden Ferguson) retained the lead. Hamlin Bank (captained by Daria Cavallo) trails by only half a point in second place. Third is currently a three-way tie by American Refining Group (captained by Ki Ferguson), Sera Enterprises LLC (captained by Aaron Luce) and Togi’s Restaurant (captained by Aislin Kramer).
Sylvia Bysiek (captain of Burns & Burns Insurance) advanced to first place for the JV Division’s first board. John Paul Cavallo (captain of OneUP Chiropractic PLLC) took second and Juliana Bysiek (captain of Lang Surveying LLC) emerged in third after round 7.
On the second board for the JV Division, Sean Kramer (playing for Sera Enterprises LLC) pulled into the lead while Sheryl Waterman (playing for Prestige: Awards & Engraving) followed in second. Elaina Ferguson (playing for Togi’s Restaurant) and Aidan McCarty (playing for Hamlin Bank) remain tied for third.
The annual pizza and awards party is set March 12.
