ORIGINAL: Are you always experimenting in the kitchen, coming up with recipes with just a few ingredients, but lots of flavor? This might be the contest for you.

Farmers Almanac https://www.farmersalmanac.com/ is holding a contest for 5 Ingredients or Less Casserole.

The top three casserole recipes will be awarded with cash prizes of $400, $300, and $200 respectively. The 2025 Farmers’ Almanac winning casserole recipes will also be announced and published in the 2026 Farmers’ Almanac!

All casserole recipes must be submitted online, and must be in-hands by Feb. 17.

No professional cooks or previous winners please. Judging will be based on originality, taste, presentation, and appearance. One recipe per person. No previous recipe contest winners.

Did you ever throw leftovers together to make a casserole?

We’re not sure if that fits the five ingredients part of the contest, if you consider the number of ingredients that made the original dishes. But the turkey-and-stuffing casserole we had after Thanksgiving was always tasty.

The Old Farmers Almanac at https://www.almanac.com/ has a tomato recipe contest. The deadline is Jan. 31. You may submit ANY kind of tomato recipe. We welcome any type of dish, from appetizers to main dishes to desserts to drinks. They can be traditional tomato recipes or something unusual. All we care about is taste and perhaps a little creativity.

Cash prizes (first, $300; second, $200; third, $100) will be awarded for the best recipes.

Winners will appear in The 2026 Old Farmer’s Almanac and on Almanac.com.

Entries must be yours, original, and unpublished in any other book or magazine. Amateur cooks only, please.
