SMETHPORT — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Hanley Library will receive $2 million toward renovations from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
The RACP award was approved by McKean County Commissioners during their meeting this week. The program, funded by bonds and administered by the Pennsylvania Office of the Budget, provides grants for the design, construction and acquisition of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. Pitt-Bradford is eligible for the award as a part of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education.
Commissioners passed along significant funding through a number of other resolutions and approvals at the meeting.
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds were approved for infrastructure or blight remediation for Smethport Borough totaling $48,637; Otto Township for $9,987; Wetmore Township for $21,506.45, $4,818.54 and $9,890; Hamlin Township for $454; and City of Bradford for $9,640.86. Community development/parks and recreation project funds were approved for Hamlin Township totaling $4,881.82; Otto Township at $4,020 and $15,980; and Smethport Borough, Keating Township and Norwich Township, each at $20,000.
Local Share Account grants were approved for $37,812 for the Tax Assessment Department to replace a county-owned vehicle, $57,092 to replace a law enforcement vehicle in the Sheriff’s Department and $53,501 to replace the county-owned transport van used by the 3G — Good Growing Gardens Community Service & Sentencing Alternative Program.
Several contracts were also approved, including Vision Government Solutions’ quote for $246,000 to implement Vision 8 CAMA software used to determine property values for tax calculations; a performance incentive of $7,500 to North Central Engage; and the North Central Partnership for Regional Economic Performance (PREP) contract totaling $10,207.
Agreements in the Department of Human Services were renewed with Bradford Regional Medical Center for aging services and with Pecora and Graffius Attorneys at Law as the mental health review officer. Two resource family (formerly foster care) arrangements were also renewed.
Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County’s requests to modify two project period end dates were approved along with an authorization for commissioners to submit adjustments for the county’s Federal Railroad Administration Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement (CRISI) grant requests.
The county welcomed new employees Alisha Eck and Shanna Eckenroad with CYS, Carlotta Dalal Alaai as a clerk typist in the public defender’s office and Joshua McHugh as an HR assistant.
The commissioners will meet next at 10 a.m. Dec. 10.
