MUPPETS: You might remember a while back when we told you about The Muppets 70th.
The first character featured on social media for The Muppets was Rowlf. Now the count is up to 11, and the featured fellow is Zoot.
“He’s Zoot, sax is his ax. This week, #TheMuppets70 spotlight is all about the Electric Mayhem’s jazzy, inscrutable sax-man who first debuted in 1975 and has been baffling us ever since.”
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem has more famous members, of course, with Animal on the drums, but Zoot usually stays in the background, the blue guy playing the saxophone.
Featured at number 10 was Muppet Ghosts. “Leading up to Halloween, this week is all about the Muppet Ghosts, who have been haunting our screens ever since The Muppet Show in 1976!”
Number 9 was a favorite of ours, the Swedish Chef. “Bust out the lingonberry jam and filmjölk, because this week we’re cooking up a celebration of The Swedish Chef! Børk! Børk! Børk!”
The Swedish Chef puppet is in the Smithsonian Museum, as are several other Muppets. The website for the National Museum of American History noted they are not on display at all times, as care is taken for their preservation.
Featured 8th was Yolanda the rat. “Whether she’s working in a diner, assisting Kermit the Frog, or just providing some hot takes, Yolanda is and always will be a STAR.”
Mo Frackle was number seven: “The first #TheMuppets70 spotlight of October is the lean, green, Frackle machine Mo. You may think you don’t know Mo, but that simply isn’t so! Since 2001, Mo has been in game shows, TV specials, music videos, and more.”
Before that were Wayne and Wanda, Koozebanian Mama, Baby Skeeter, Pops and Lew Zealand (the boomerang fish thrower, of course).
