EMPORIUM — This holiday season, the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library has kicked off two beloved traditions – the Cards for Troops and Holiday Book Gifting programs – to spread cheer and give back to both the community’s children and those serving abroad.
Cards for Troops: Crafting gratitude across borders
Now through Dec. 7, the library’s Cards for Troops program invites young creators and families alike to make personalized holiday cards for military service members. These heartfelt creations will join Emporium’s Military Christmas Boxes, delivering messages of appreciation and festive joy to those serving far from home.
Pick up a Take-Home Craft Kit at the library, 27 W. Fourth Street. Kits are packed with a blank card, festive stickers, pre-written messages to personalize and other fun decor materials to bring each card to life. Glue sticks are available upon request, and creators are encouraged to add their personal touch with markers, crayons or colored pencils from home.
All completed cards should be returned to the library by Dec. 7 for inclusion in the Christmas boxes.
Holiday Book Gifting: Bringing stories home for the holidays
The Holiday Book Gifting Program, running through Dec. 14, is designed to put new books in the hands of young readers across Emporium – wrapped and ready to place under the tree.
Local residents can support by purchasing donation ornaments at the library in increments of $2, $5, $10 or $20. All contributions will fund book purchases for children and teens.
Families can submit a Book Request Form for a child by dropping it off at the library or mailing it to Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 W. Fourth Street, Emporium PA, 15834. Forms are available at the library and Cameron County Chamber, or can be downloaded from the library’s website under the “Library Contests & Fundraisers” tab.
Book request forms are due by Dec. 14, and donations will be accepted through Dec. 21. Remember to include a phone number or email to arrange book pickup.
