COUDERSPORT — Coudersport-based state police are investigating a report of a man impersonating a deputy with the Potter County Sheriff’s department.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, a male identifying himself as a deputy with the department contacted a business in Summit Township asking about specific persons employed at the business. Upon investigation, the sheriff’s department does not have anyone with that name employed there.
“This is a known scam that is circulating around the United States with several different sheriffs’ offices being named,” police stated. “If anyone or any business receives calls of this nature please refrain from sharing information, and contact PSP Coudersport 814-274-8690.”
