Senior Brayden Frair continued his fine season with a second-place finish at the McQuaid Invitational on Saturday. Competing in the middle size varsity race Frair ran 15:42 to take second place and lead the Owls to an eighth place team finish.
“This is an exceptional time for Brayden and he is not quite at 100% yet but he is getting close,” Bradford head coach Tom Tessena said.” Sophomore Evan Troisi had his best race of the year with a 17:07.9 time and a 34th place finish. “Evan is getting stronger with each meet and is determined to qualify for states this year.”
Senior Joe Caruso took 88th in 18:09.7. “Joe is steadily improving and should be running his best by districts,” Coach Tessena said. Sophomore Kadyn Tessena placed 105th in 18:23.9. “He had some stomach issues but toughed it out to finish the race,” Coach Tessena said. “He will do much better this coming week.”
Freshman Jordan Hogue had his best race of the year, clocking a 18:31.3 time for 114th. Junior Marcus Terwilliger placed 118th in 18:34.
“There were 287 runners in this race and that made it very hard to move up if you didn’t get close to the front,” coach Tessena said. Bradford scored 316 points while Pittsford won the team championship with 160 points. Dan Granville of Greece-Arcadia took 1st place honors with a time of 15:21.7.
The Bradford junior varsity team placed 10th with 304 points. Freshman Nikolai Frontino medaled with a time of 18:17.6 in 22nd place. “Nikolai actually ran faster than three of our guys in the varsity race, it was a personal best time by quite a bit,” Coach Tessena said.” Cavan Drake was 78th (19:29) for his personal best. Tony McDonald took 110th (20:01) also with a personal time while Malyk Harpster placed 122nd (20:18). Owen Blauser took 136th (20:47), Miles Hawk was 143rd (21:00.6), and Eddie Youmans finished 150th (21:15) for a personal best. Manhasset won the team title with 31 points and Manhasset’s Max Tabar took home individual honors with a 16:48 mark. The race had 255 runners.
Seventh grader Charlie Vinelli continued his torrid pace, placing seventh with a 9:25 in the middle school race with 243 runners. Also medaling were Owen Tingley in 34th place (10:08) and Langdon Krepp in 43rd place(10:19). “These three boys are getting better each week as well,” Coach Tessena said.
Also running for Bradford were Gavin Weart – 147th (12:07), Oliver Burritt – 172nd (12:45), and Jacob Warfield – 216th (14:34). These three seventh graders also had personal bests on the day. Bradford tallied 263 points for an 8th place finish. Verona took first place with 22 points led by Humid Syed’s first place finish in 8:46.4. There were 243 runners in this race. Both teams return to action at Brockway and Ridgway on Tuesday.
