The biggest casino wins in history: Where, what and how

HARRISBURG (TNS) — Part of the allure for us at PennLive writing online casino reviews is providing tips to play the best games with high odds of payouts. We also like writing stories about the biggest win in casino history, either online or in person. When we learned that one lucky player at BetMGM New Jersey nabbed one of the biggest iGaming jackpots in history earlier in August, we couldn’t resist answering your question about what is the most amount of money ever won in a casino.

    1. The great fruit escape

While BetMGM has a history amongst the top online casinos. It is known for paying progressive jackpot winners, especially in 2023, just a few weeks ago, one lucky player at BetMGM New Jersey, the sister site of BetMGM PA, won arguably the biggest win in casino history for the iGaming sector. After dropping $200 playing Fruit Blaster, progressive jackpot fate worked its magic by dropping nearly $6.5 million with one spin. While mainstay progressive slots like Wheel of Fortune have produced winners in the past, the Fruit Blaster win is significant in a variety of ways. BetMGM plans to fly the player out for a lavish and all-expense paid stay at one of MGM’s Vegas Casinos to celebrate the unknown player’s victory. It is protocol for jackpot winners of $500,000 and more to be flown out in person.

Not highly ranked or popular before the massive win, Fruit Blaster proves that any game can break the bank anytime, no matter the odds. While there are many other land-based progressive game wins that are much bigger, this iGaming jackpot win is a game changer for online casino play.

    2. The mega win at the Excalibur Hotel

One of the main reasons why people continue to flock to retail casinos is the thrill of winning the big one in the presence of crowds. And winning the big one became a reality for one player in 2003 at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. After playing Megabucks, one of the largest progressive slots for its time at $39.7 million, it was without a doubt the biggest win in casino history, at least for that time. After wagering $100, an anonymous player got the elusive three Megabucks icons to land to make history.

Megabucks struck again in 2000 at $35 million at the Desert Inn Las Vegas. Ironically, after her shift as a waitress ended, Cynthia Brennan took some of the money she saved for her wedding to play Megabucks. With the maximum $3 bet, eventually, the Megabucks symbols lined up to win just shy of $35 million. The progressive slot network is a staple at prominent real money casinos to encourage more online play. Games like Wheel of Fortune are usually a part of progressive online network games.

    3. The Grand Bally in the Valley

In May 2022, Joanna Heundi took advantage of Bally Las Vegas’s birthday promotion. Joanna stayed at the hotel for her birthday celebration and took advantage of the $100 free play bonus. After going through that, Joanna deposited another $100 to play Megabucks and almost went through all of that. However, Joanna’s patience paid off when three Megabucks symbols landed on the reels, delivering an incredible $22 million jackpot. Incredibly, Joanna also won a minor jackpot worth $3,000 to commemorate this impressive win.

No matter how great a strategy is, or how long we practice, all casino games, are games of chance, the chance to win the big one, is the gambler’s ultimate dream. Everybody likes winners, and love to be the next winner displayed and celebrated in casinos. This is why the leaderboard contests at online casinos are so popular, because it inspires us to have our names listed them.

Several spins of failure and disappointment can be erased with one spin worth millions. Because some progressive slots like the Wheel of Fortune series are linked online and at land-based casinos, the thrill of winning the big one in a crowd will always be in style.
