EMPORIUM — Accio excitement! The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library announced the return of its much-loved Wizarding Days, a spellbinding celebration of all things Hogwarts, running from September through October.
Whether you’re a seasoned wizard, a young witch, or a Muggle with a love for magic, there’s something enchanting for everyone.
This month will be Defense Against the Dark Arts and Craft Your Own Magical Creature. For Defense Against the Dark Arts throughout the month the library will transform into a battleground against dark forces! Participants ages 7 and above are invited to take on dark wizards in our multipurpose room using specially designed wands (Nerf guns). Compete for a chance to win one of our coveted Harry Potter-themed prize baskets. Prizes will be awarded to the top scorers in each of the three age categories: youth, teen, and adult.
At 5 p.m. Sept. 30, the library will host a magical crafting session where participants ages 10 and up can create and adopt their very own Pygmy Puff! This hands-on activity will use hot glue guns and provided supplies to bring your Pygmy Puff to life. Registration is required, and details will be available soon.
On Oct. 14 will be Wandmaking 101, a craft for ages 10 and up. The library invites aspiring wandmakers to drop in anytime for an all-day workshop. Using a variety of supplies, including hot glue and glitter, you can create a unique and magical wand. This activity is perfect for those ages 10 and up who are ready to embrace their inner Ollivander.
