Commissioners approve funds at Tuesday meeting

SMETHPORT — At Tuesday’s meeting, the McKean County commissioners approved funds for several municipalities and renewed contracts for the Department of Human Services.

What they didn’t do, for lack of a motion, was appoint Jeremy Morey to the McKean County Redevelopment Authority. Morey is the borough manager for Port Allegany and former director of the McKean County Planning Commission.

However, he is a resident of Roulette in Potter County, when he would need to be a resident of McKean County to serve on the board.

Also at the meeting, American Rescue Plan Act funds were approved for Hazel Hurst Water Company for $7,200, and to Cousins Design for $4,000 for a Route 6 Signage project. ARPA funds for a community development/parks and recreation project in Wetmore Township for $20,000 were also approved.

Applications for county liquid fuels aid were approved from the following: Eldred Borough, $1,358.71; Otto Township, $3,626.53; Bradford City, $13,519.26; Lafayette Township, $4,177.55; and Hamlin Township, $2,344.39.

The commissioners authorized filing a proposal for $392,429.33 in funds with the Department of Community and Economic Development for McKean County Emergency Solutions Grant through A Partnership in Housing Inc. Several other measures relating to the grant were approved as well.

Multiple renewals were approved for the Department of Human Services as well — Early Intervention, E. Wachter Early Intervention Services LLC; Amie Peck, certified investigator; Center for Hearing & Deaf Services Inc., interpreter services; De. Peter von Korff; Kelly Compton, training renewal; Megan Hollenbeck, emergency service mental health delegate; Premier Biotech LLC, family profile; Shippenville Project Point of Light, psychiatric services; Susie Marchsani LCSW, therapy renewal; Tania Geist, emergency services mental health delegate; and for CYS: The Bair Foundation, Bethesda, Children’s Aid Society, City Mission Living Stones Inc., Cornell Abraxas, George Junior, Hoffman Homes for Youth, Keystone Adolescents, LifeSpan, Outside In, Pathways Adolescent Center, Pentz Run, Perseus House, and White Deer Run Cove PREP.

The next meeting will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 10.
