DuBOIS — Penn State DuBois and the North Central Workforce Development Board (DBA Workforce Solutions for North Central PA) announced the successful conclusion of the STEM in to Manufacturing Camp, held July 15 to 18 at Penn State DuBois/LaunchBox.
The camp brought together 11 enthusiastic students from Elk, Clearfield and Jefferson counties to explore the world of manufacturing and engineering.
Throughout the week-long program, students had the opportunity to visit prominent local companies including Atlas Pressed Metals, Metaltech Inc., Gasbarre Products Inc. and Phoenix Sintered Metals LLC. These visits provided insights into real-world manufacturing processes and technologies, inspiring the students and deepening their understanding of modern industry practices.
The camp featured a variety of hands-on activities designed to engage and challenge the students. Highlights included robotics workshops, engineering projects such as air-powered cars and an egg drop challenge, and introduction sessions to advanced technologies such as 3D printers, robotic programming and program logic controls. These activities were aimed at fostering creativity, problem-solving skills and a passion for STEM disciplines.
The camp, which ran daily from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., was made possible through the collaboration of Penn State DuBois/LaunchBox and Workforce Solutions for North Central PA, with support from local manufacturing partners.
