SMETHPORT — The McKean County District Attorney’s office has taken on an experienced attorney as a part-time assistant prosecutor — Greg Henry.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the commissioners noted Henry as a new employee.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said her office now includes Henry, Casey Graffius, former Elk County DA Tom Coppolo and Mike Alfieri, who has been in the office for many years and served as interim DA after the resignation of Ray Learn in 2015.
Also at the meeting, commissioner Chairman Tom Kreiner lauded the Otto-Eldred Hometown Days events and the drone show Saturday night.
“They had a phenomenal display of drones,” he said. “It was pretty neat.”
The commissioners approved applications for liquid fuels funds as follows: Corydon Township for $1,107.98, Wetmore Township for $5,160.23, Mount Jewett Borough for $1,744.82, Bradford Township for $9,728.98, Kane Borough for $6,413.71, Sergeant Township for $929.14 and Ceres Township for $4,547.37.
Also approved were ARPA municipal recovery allocation funds for Sergeant Township for $8,850.00 and $7,037.00 for McKean County infrastructure/blight remediation projects.
Tim Crandall, assistant director of TLC ambulance service, gave a brief update, saying their service has been “all over the county.” He asked the commissioners if they had extra emergency radios for the service to use, or if the commissioners were willing to buy them.
Kreiner said they would take it under advisement.
Elise Grovanz from North Central Regional Planning Commission attended the meeting, explaining to commissioners that she likes to “maintain a physical presence” in the counties North Central covers. She added that municipalities who are paving roads can contact her at North Central for the possibility of securing a matching grant.
Carolyn Newhouse gave an update of the America250 events, saying the website has been launched and committees will be formed next month to plan local events.
The next regular commissioners meeting will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 13.
