The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is accepting public comments on a proposal to replace the Farnsworth Bridge. The bridge, at mile point 5.44 on Forest Road 154, provides access over the Farnsworth Branch of the West Branch of Tionesta Creek. The proposed project is in Mead Township, Warren County. The project site is approximately 4 miles southwest of Clarendon Borough.
This project is being proposed due to the three-ton weight limit, which is inadequate to continue supporting the traffic passing over the bridge. The proposed replacement structure is a 56-foot box beam bridge with concrete abutments and will meet current design standards for bridges in Pennsylvania. This will ensure the bridge will support all legal highway loads.
For more information, a scoping document is available for download on the project webpage. Printed copies are available upon request. To provide input, submit comments by July 1. For more information, contact District Ranger Richard Hatfield at (814) 363-6000 or richard.hatfield@usda.gov.
