There’s a sort-of-new administrator for the City of Bradford.
On Thursday, Bradford City Mayor Tom Riel, on behalf of city council, announced that Eric Taylor, who has been serving on an interim basis, was named to the position full time as of Wednesday.
”The City of Bradford advertised through multiple venues the position of city administrator,” Riel said. “More than 30 applicants responded. Interviews were scheduled and Eric Taylor was chosen to permanently fill the position, effective yesterday.”
Taylor, who is the fire chief, will continue serving in that position until a replacement chief is named.
Riel explained, “This action creates an opening for the position of fire chief. City council requests that any member of the fire department interested in the position submit a letter of interest to city council by 4:30 p.m. April 1.”
Chief positions are promoted from within the department. When Chief Bill McCormack retired, Boo Coder was promoted to chief. When Coder retired, Chris Angell was promoted to chief. After Angell’s retirement, Rich Zmuda filled in as interim chief until Taylor was named.
”Any member of the fire department can apply,” the mayor said, explaining it doesn’t have to be a captain or lieutenant. “We hope to name a chief by the first city council meeting in April.”
In a prepared statement representing council, Riel said, “The City of Bradford is grateful that Eric Taylor agreed to fill the city administrator position on an interim basis and now as a permanent position. His continued dedication to serve the citizens of Bradford is much appreciated.”
