Bradford Township supervisors adopted two resolutions at Monday’s meeting, giving addresses to sports fields.
The resolutions stated the McKean County coordinator for Next Generation 911 Public Safety Systems directed that addresses be assigned at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford softball and baseball fields for ease of 911 response. The softball field will be 113 Wagner Ave. and the baseball field will be 25 Wagner Ave.
A bit of contention arose at the meeting when supervisors accepted the resignation of Rose Kessel from the zoning hearing board, and moved to accept letters of interest until April 5.
An issue with the zoning hearing board arose at the February meeting when it came to light that when the township reorganized, board member Francy Forbes, whose term was up but who was interested in holding her seat, moved to alternate status and was replaced by William Huber, who had also submitted a letter of interest.
Residents at this week’s meeting were displeased that supervisors didn’t immediately move Forbes from alternate into the new vacancy. An appointment will be made at the April supervisors meeting.
Also at the meeting, the supervisors announced the liquid fuels allocation for 2024 has been received, in the amount of $190,001.55, after bridge inspection fees of $3,892.64 were taken out.
Resolutions were adopted for two new vehicles, one each for the road and sewer departments, through the state’s municipal discount program known as Costars.
For the sewer department, the truck is a 2024 Ford 350 truck from Tri-Star in Blairsville for $66,502. For the road department, the truck is a 2024 Ram 5500 with a dump body for $59,500 from Stephen Equipment Inc.
Four shotguns from the police department were sold for $4,000 through sealed bids. Chief Robb Shipman explained MG Arms donated new shotguns to the department, an upgrade from the ones that were sold.
The supervisors will advertise to accept sealed bids for 2024-25 road material.
The next township meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 8.
