PIE: How far would you travel for a slice of Shoofly pie?
A survey by Mixbook, a #1 rated photobook company, looked at how far pie aficionados would travel for a slice of pie for National Pie Day, March 14 — 3.14.
The number one was Boston cream pie, Massachusetts: 2 hours 32 minutes. Pie aficionados said they would be prepared to travel for over two and a half hours to eat one of these in the Bay State. In second was bumbleberry pie, North Dakota: 2 hours 31 minutes. This mixed berry pie, with its combination of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, offers a perfect balance of sweet and tart. In third is honeycrisp apple pie, Minnesota: 2 hours 28 minutes; in fourth, strawberry pie in Oklahoma, 2 hours 27 minutes. “With its bright, sweet filling made of fresh strawberries, often in a glaze, and topped with whipped cream, Oklahoma’s Strawberry Pie is a celebration of simplicity and flavor.”
In fifth, pecan pie, Texas, 2 hours 23 minutes; sixth place, key lime pie, Florida, 2 hours, 22 minutes; in seventh, peanut butter pie, Virginia, 2 hours, 21 minutes; in eighth, wild berry pie in Alaska — a mix of native berries, including blueberries, raspberries, and salmonberries.
Ninth place was cactus pie in Arizona, 2 hours, 16 minutes; in tenth, chocolate cream pie, Nevada, 2 hours, 14 minutes; and in 11th, shoofly pie in Pennsylvania, 2 hours, 12 minutes.
