(TNS) — Pennsylvanians have about a month to register to vote in the April 23 primary, according to a reminder sent out Monday by the Department of State.
The deadline to register is April 8.
“It takes only a few minutes to register to vote, and I urge every eligible Pennsylvanian who is not yet registered to do so before the April 8 deadline,” said Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt.
Eligible voters for the primary must be a U.S. citizen for at least a month before the primary, a resident of the election district in which they plan to register for at least 30 days prior to the primary and at least 18 on or before the primary date.
Pennsylvania voters can check their voter registration status at pavoterservices.pa.gov.
Besides online, Pennsylvanians can register to vote many other ways, including at county voter/elections offices, various county offices, armed forces recruitment centers and PennDOT photo and driver license centers.
Only Democrats and Republicans can vote in the Pennsylvania primary.
The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 21.
