LITTLE VALLEY — A Great Valley man is facing several felony charges after being accused of stealing over $3 million from customers of his construction business.
The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau reported Monday that deputies charged Dana E. John, 56, of Great Valley, at 12:45 p.m. Feb. 29 with second-degree grand larceny, a class C felony; and first-degree scheming to defraud, a class E felony.
Deputies said the charges came from several construction contracts in the Ellicottville, Mansfield and Salamanca areas, and authorities accuse John of not completing projects and, in one case, not beginning construction after being paid.
Dana John is the owner of Dana John Contracting LLC, of the same address listed by the sheriff’s office. According to the Department of State, the limited-liability company was initially filed in February 2007.
John was arraigned in Ellicottville town court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear at a later date.
